Custom Site Domain

SmartyGrants offers a custom site domain that can be set up as an additional feature on your subscription.

What is a Custom Site Domain?

A custom site domain allows your organisation to personalise the web address applicants use to access your SmartyGrants applicant site. Instead of using the default applicant site URL, you can redirect users to a subdomain managed by your organisation. For example: http://grants.yourorganisation.com

This feature enables your applicant site to appear under your own branded domain name. Once configured, your default applicant site URL will automatically redirect all traffic to your custom domain, ensuring a consistent experience for your applicants.

Benefits of a Custom Site Domain

Brand Consistency: Using your organisation's domain to ensure your organisation's branding is reflected at every stage of the process.

Simplified access: Applicants can navigate to a familiar web address, providing a seamless application experience from your website to SmartyGrants.

Automatic redirections: All visits to your original site URL will seamlessly redirect to the new custom domain. This means any previously publicised links for your default SmartyGrants applicant site URL can be maintained.

Limitations

A custom site domain does not allow you to:

  1. Implement multiple site subdomains or vary the subdomain by program or round.

  2. Implement a custom URL without access to configure your organisation’s DNS (Domain Name System) provider. Your IT team must have access to manage your organisation’s DNS settings.

  3. Complete removal of your default SmartyGrants applicant site URL. This URL may still appear in some system-generated notification emails.

How to enable a Custom Site Domain

Before we can begin the setup process, please be aware of the following:

  • Once SmartyGrants initiates the request, the DNS records must be added to your DNS provider within 72 hours. This is a time-sensitive step and will require coordination with your IT team.

  • Your IT team must have access to create CNAME records in your DNS provider’s configuration.

To get started

  1. Contact our support team at service@smartygrants.com.au.

  1. Provide the preferred subdomain (eg. http://grants.yourorganisation.com).

  1. Our team will guide you through the next steps of the DNS and set up process.

Once setup is complete, your custom domain will be live and ready to use.

Communicating with Applicants

There is no need to notify applicants of this change. Your existing default SmartyGrants applicant URL will continue to function and will automatically redirect users to the new custom domain.
